This blog entry is now available at

Our new site offers you all of our historic blogs plus a wealth of new insights and resources

  1. At some point, replacing command and control with systems thinking requires some very senior turkeys to vote for Christmas. Needs some careful 'planning for success'.

  2. John Riddington Young's book "The Hospital Revolution" describes some of the reasons for the fear. Managers have risen above their abilities through their willingness to implement policies without understanding or knowledge. Many have come from posts made redundant and now work at pay levels they could not have dreamed of, given their earlier roles. Health professionals that know better are powerless to challenge the mismanagement because they may simply lose their jobs.
